Sew Original is a full service Bernina dealership and quilt shop, located in Boone & Winston Salem, NC. We carry the best sewing machines in the world, Bernina of course....as well as a huge selection of fabrics, patterns, books, notions, accessories, etc. Our certified Bernina technician is here to service and/or repair your machine. Our knowledgeable and talented staff teach a variety of different classes from beginner to advanced levels for ages 6+. Shirley & Melinda first met in 1994 when they joined a sewing group and later became co-workers at a Bernina dealership when Melinda bought her first embroidery machine and began working "just for thread". In October 2002 they opended their own Bernina dealership in Boone and shortly after that opened a second location in Winston Salem. Both ladies enjoy all types of sewing, especially heirloom, and have a vast knowledge of all things sewing! Their greatest joy is meeting and getting to know their customers and fellow sewing-junkies. Shirley and her husband, Jim, live in Charlotte and Winston Salem. Their son, Harley, lives in Greensboro and their daughter, Emily, son-in-law, Tim and grandsons, Oliver and William, live in Raleigh. Melinda and her husband, Harmon, live in Dallas and Beech Mtn. Their daughter, Jennifer, son-in-law, Reid and grand-daughters, Madisyn and Emma Claire live in Dallas as well as their son, Jonathan, daughter-in-law, Michelle and grandson, Cameron. Knowledgeable, friendly, unbelieveably talented.....the best!! We are so lucky to have such an awesome group of ladies. They come from a wide variety of sewing backgrounds with tons of experience and sewing education, from self-taught sewers to master's degrees training, each adding a unique perspective to our sewing world.
