John W Neal Middle School

Neal Middle School is a part of Durham Public Schools. Located in Durham, N.C., the school serves more than 850 students. It is a site school for the federal 21st Century After-school Community Learning Center. The school provides a variety of academic, cocurricular and extracurricular activities for students. It offers a student-centered academic interdisciplinary learning lab program for gifted students. Neal Middle School provides advanced classes and a range of special elective courses, such as foreign languages, forensics, chess, drama and math counts. Its academic curriculum includes art, computer applications, math, reading, science, technology, social studies, and health and physical education. The school also operates a guidance and counseling department for parents, students and teachers. It offers a variety of sports activities, such as volleyball, swimming, cheerleading, basketball, baseball and tennis.
