I became a family doctor because I enjoy building relationships with people over time, especially in the context of applying science at the bedside to support people in wellness. My experience growing up in the South as a child of Indian immigrants taught me to appreciate the value of family and giving back to the community. My philosophy as a physician is to welcome all patients with humble curiosity. It is a privilege to invite patients into a safe space with the common goal of improving health. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family and cooking vegetarian/vegan meals. I also like to exercise and do yoga.

I have a longstanding interest in clinical trials of new therapeutics in the treatment of inflammatory bowel disease. This continues to be a very active area of investigation. I am currently medical director of outpatient endoscopy at UNC Meadowmont. I play both a clinical and education role in the endoscopy unit.
