The Kannapolis Intimidators are preparing for a milestone 20th season of professional baseball in our community. Franchise Founded In 1995, Larry Hedrick -- owner of the No. 41 Kodiak Car -- purchased the Philadelphia Phillies' Single-A South Atlantic League affiliate in Spartanburg, SC, and moved the team to Kannapolis, NC, to become the Piedmont Phillies and begin play that season at the newly minted Fieldcrest Cannon Stadium. The team was renamed the Piedmont Boll Weevils in 1996 and enjoyed five more seasons as the Phillies affiliate. Fresh Sox After the 2000 season, the Chicago White Sox became our Major League affiliate, a partnership that was extended following the 2013 campaign through the 2018 season. Intimidating Legacy Since 1995, more than 70 players who played for the Piedmont/Kannapolis franchise have gone on to the Major Leagues.
The Kannapolis Intimidators, Class A affiliate of the Chicago White Sox, provide affordable family entertainment for fans in the communities of Kannapolis, Concord, and throughout Cabarrus and Rowan counties. See Major League Baseball's stars of tomorrow on our field today.
