The Governor's Crime Commission serves as a chief advisory body that assists various officials and departments. The commission employs more than 40 staff members. Also known as GCC, it sets program priorities, reviews applications and makes recommendations for the state's criminal and juvenile justice federal block grants. The Governor's Crime Commission coordinates with law enforcement agencies, nonprofit entities, state governments and universities. The commission has a crime prevention unit that organizes a variety of security training programs. In addition, it operates the North Carolina Criminal Justice Analysis Center, which provides planning and quantitative and qualitative research solutions. The commission is a part of the North Carolina Department of Crime Control and Public Safety.
