The Town of Glen Alpine, founded in 1883, originally began as a small community known as Turkey Tail, named after a tree resembling a turkey's tail near the railroad tracks. Over the years, the village evolved, changing its name through Sigmundsburg to Glen Alpine Station, and ultimately becoming Glen Alpine.
Today, Glen Alpine is a primarily residential community that embodies hometown values and is situated in Burke County, North Carolina. Surrounded by the natural beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountains, it offers residents and visitors easy access to outdoor activities, Lake James State Park, and several local wineries and breweries.
