Squirrel Valley Observatory, located in the foothills of western North Carolina, is a privately owned astronomical facility established with major construction completed in 2015. The observatory is recognized by the International Astronomical Union with the code W34 for its significant contributions to the tracking and detection of minor planets, hazardous asteroids, and other Near Earth Objects.
