First In Families of North Carolina

History

FIF was started by families of children with disabilities who wanted to find a better way to both help their loved ones and also give back to their own communities. This happens through partnerships with local businesses and public funding. Local management teams, comprised of at least 50% membership by people with disabilities or family members, provide guidance to staff and drive local fundraising efforts resulting in being able to help even more families in the community.

Specialties

First In Families provide flexible family support to NC families and individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities or Traumatic brain injuries, helping them achieve short and long-term goals, access needed goods and services, plan for the future, and give back to others. We assist in all 100 NC counties through local Chapters.
