I began my career in medicine as a bedside pediatric nurse and enjoyed working in that role for more than six years before returning to school to become a specialist rather than a generalist. I'm now a family nurse practitioner with a specialty in pediatric pulmonology. My first career was very rewarding, but I'm even more fulfilled by my work in pulmonary medicine for children. I love seeing the smiles on the faces of my patients and their families when they can see and feel improvement in their pulmonary health. I am methodical and detail-oriented in my practice. I also value building a personal rapport with my young patients and their families. I think developing those lasting relationships leads to the best health outcomes. Spending time with my husband and our two young daughters is what I love to do most when not at work. We enjoy doing anything outdoors and take advantage of the beaches and boating in our coastal community as often as we can.

As a small child, I wanted to be a doctor but didn't know what kind. I assumed I'd practice internal or family medicine. Ironically, when I started medical school, I said I would never be an ob-gyn. My mother laughed, and said, "Never say never." When I started my clinical rotations, I found this specialty to be the perfect fit. I found I missed it when I was doing other rotations. Of course, my mother enjoyed saying, "I knew it all along" when I called toward the end of my third year to tell her I'd decided to go into obstetrics and gynecology. I pride myself on delivering personalized care to each patient. My strongest attribute in my professional life (which also serves me well in my personal life) is that I'm a good listener. I've been told by several patients throughout the years that I'm the only doctor they feel has ever truly listened and was, therefore, able to fix or significantly improve whatever health issue they were having. While I was a resident, I served on the board of the Mississippi Medical Association for two years. Originally from Mississippi, I grew up in the Delta as the oldest of five children. I made my way to Asheville, North Carolina, for high school and went to the College of Charleston for undergrad before returning to Mississippi for my medical training. After completing training, I took a job in High Point, North Carolina, as an ob-gyn and worked there for three years before moving to Wilmington in 2019. I met my husband in the area - at Wrightsville Beach - when we were in high school, but we didn't start dating for another decade. Today, we have two young children and a third on the way. When I have free time, I enjoy spending it with my family, as well as hiking, fishing and baking. I'm active in our church and hope to one day - when life is a little slower - take up drawing again.
