EnergyUnited was formed when electrical cooperative members voted to consolidate Crescent Corporation and Davidson Electric Membership Corporation in 1998. These two established cooperatives served customers for 60 years. Headquartered in Statesville, N.C., EnergyUnited is the third largest supplier of residential electricity in the state with a service territory that stretches south from the Virginia border and includes three of North Carolina s largest cities - Charlotte, Winston-Salem and Greensboro. Because it is a cooperative, EnergyUnited s customers own the company, elect its board of directors and vote on policies at annual meetings. EnergyUnited is not in business to make a profit, but to provide a needed service at the lowest cost it can offer to its member customers.
