My father was diagnosed with cancer when I was in high school, and my daughter was in the neonatal intensive care unit for several months after she was born. These experiences helped shape my vision of what healthcare could and should be. It's incredibly important to me that my patients feel heard and well cared for. \n I am passionate about patient education and teaching patients to advocate for themselves and those they care about. I think knowledge is power. Healthcare literacy is important, and a lot of that starts in the home you are born into. \n New parents can use and share that knowledge with their children. I believe educating and caring for women can lead to better care for entire families. \n I was named to the dean's list in midwifery school and also earned a master's degree in nursing education. \n I am married to a wonderful man who is a teacher and coach, and we have three children who keep us very busy. We love watching high school basketball and baseball, and can be found on a baseball field or in a gym most weekends.
