About EWS The Emerson Waldorf School provides a creative, supportive learning environment based on the philosophical and pedagogical indications of Dr. Rudolf Steiner. We offer a time-tested curriculum designed to bring interdisciplinary and multi-sensory learning in response to the needs of the child at each stage of development, with a rich blend of academics and arts.Since the Emerson Waldorf School opened its doors in 1984, our enrollment has continued to grow. We enroll children ages 1-18, in our Parent-Child program for toddlers, our pre-K and Kindergarten program, and Grades 1-12. The woodland campus of 54 acres provides safe and ample space for creative play and for exploring the natural sciences, while specially designed buildings encourage a sense of beauty in harmony with the natural surroundings. A strong and vibrant community of parents and teachers supports the work of the school, including an active Parent Organization. The school is a full member of the Association of Waldorf Schools of North America ( AWSNA ) and the Waldorf Early Childhood Association of North America, and is in the process of becoming accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and the Southern Association of Independent Schools. The Emerson Waldorf School provides an integrated Waldorf curriculum and environment which encourage and promote independent thinking and social responsibility as well as academic and artistic excellence. The unique gifts and contributions of each child are honored through a developmentally appropriate awakening of thinking, feeling, and willing. Further, the Emerson Waldorf School understands children as beings of body, soul, and spirit, and guides them to develop compassion and reverence for themselves and the world community. The Emerson Waldorf School does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, creed, national or ethnic origin the the administration of its education policies, admissions policies, tuition adjustment program, athletic or other school administered programs. 2010 Emerson Waldorf School Pre-K-12 6211 New Jericho Road, NC 27516 Chapel Hill ( 919 ) 967-1858

Academics is delivered in a unique and creative way here. Using the Waldorf approach has proven highly effective for our son who has been there for 9 years now. Grateful to his teacher Mr. Wiley.
