This place is so delightful! The employees are so knowledgeable and the place is very respectful of the animals. I really appreciated that. I can't wait to go again.

The Duke Lemur Center, located in Durham, NC, is a renowned research facility and conservation organization dedicated to the study and protection of lemurs, the most endangered mammals on Earth. Established in 1966 on the campus of Duke University, the center houses over 200 lemurs across 14 different species, making it the largest and most diverse population of lemurs outside of their native Madagascar.
With a mission to advance scientific knowledge and promote conservation efforts, the Duke Lemur Center conducts groundbreaking research, offers educational programs and tours, and actively participates in conservation breeding programs. Through their work, they strive to raise awareness about the importance of lemurs and their fragile ecosystems, while also providing a safe and enriching environment for these unique primates.

Such a wonderful place with an incredible mission, dedicated volunteers, and adorable animals! This was our first time going and we will 100% be going back! We did the regular self-guided tour...
Duke Lemur Center operates a little differently since my prior visits. Now once you book a time you can tour at your own pace rather than a guided tour. They also offer a behind the scenes tour...
Great family program and interactive. Will be back. They also have a gift shop that helps to raise funds for the program
Very informative, and just enjoyed watching the Lemurs. I came when the center first opened in early May, and there wasn't a whole lot of activity. It's probably better to go in the Summer.
