Our healthcare model is challenged to address chronic medical conditions that result largely from lifestyle factors negatively impacting our health. Conventional medical care is conducted in a fragmented fashion in hospitals and doctors' offices with hurried providers that must balance the interests between patients and employer to address complex medical conditions. The result is a compromised patient-physician relationship and narrow scope of care that puts medications at the center of effective treatment while neglecting our ability to heal with appropriate lifestyle interventions.
