After seven years of taking care of very ill patients in the hospital, I noticed many gaps and barriers to care. I decided to become a nurse practitioner in primary care to help address these needs by focusing on health promotion and disease prevention with a goal of keeping my patients happy, healthy, and home. My philosophy of care is to prevent what we can and treat what we can’t. I am passionate about healthy living, health promotion and disease prevention. But, when illness and disease cannot be avoided, I will partner with you to create a treatment plan that incorporates evidence-based care as well as your individual values and goals. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my husband, two children, and two dogs. I love traveling (especially on cruises) and listening to fantasy.

I became interested in the medical field at a very young age after watching my mother, a nurse, care for patients. I was also named after a family member who passed away from a congenital heart disease. These things inspired me to seek a career as a physician assistant so that I could help treat patients and work to improve their lives. I enjoy family medicine as I truly enjoy caring for the whole patient. I strive to work together with my patients to improve their health and achieve our health goals. Outside of the office, I enjoy running and spending time with my husband and our child.

I have always had a passion for serving my community. I felt two professions that spoke to this source of service best: ministry and medicine. Ultimately, my life led me in the direction of becoming a medical provider which has allowed me fulfill my desire and have a positive impact on the lives and health of others. I have worked as a family medicine physician assistant for over 7 years. I grew up in the Triangle and now have the pleasure of serving the community which has been my home for the last few decades. My approach to patient care is to empower the patient to be an active leader in their own healthcare by serving as an educator. Providing patients with most up-to-date research and recommendations allow us to determine the best, yet most cost-effective approach to their health so that our goals are identical and outcomes optimized. My special interests include cardiovascular health and performing small procedures. I enjoy spending time with my wife and 2 children. Additionally, I enjoy yard work and doing home improvement and woodworking projects.
