Open daily for climbing 9a-5pm, weather permitting March 23, 2024 through December 1. Climb the 220 steps to the top for a breathtaking view while learning from docents, brochures, and exhibits about shipwrecks, the lives of lighthouse keepers, the history and national significance of the tower (it filled the last remaining dark space on the east coast in 1875) and the tower's original 1st order Fresnel lens. The beacon continues to be an active aid to navigation (3 seconds on, 17 off). The station is preservation effort of the Outer Banks Conservationists along with the State of NC and the USCG through the National Historic Lighthouse Preservation Act of 2000. $13/person (card or cash) or free with a Season's Pass (non transferrable, $50-$120/year); admission paid at tower. No online or advance reservations available. Climbers ages 4+ welcome (younger free only in BYO Carrier). Dogs on leashes welcome on grounds. Drones and drone operators must stay outside fenceline.

One of the lighthouses in OBX to visit. Plenty of parking nearby and at the local museum there are bathrooms.

We stopped at the lighthouse, and climbed to the very top! Would highly recommend this for anyone in the area. It's a great bit of history, and we were happy to support it.
