Nestled about 25 miles southeast of Asheville, North Carolina, Chimney Rock State Park offers miles of beautiful hiking trails, from moderate to strenuous, rock climbing, and an amazing view from the top of the rock overlooking Lake Lure. The view from the top of Chimney Rock attracts visitors across the country, but the walk to the top is equally engaging, featuring wildflowers, various birds, and the 404-foot Hickory Nut Falls.

Chimney Rock State Park changes with the seasons, so there's something beautiful to see year-round. Spring is popular for wildflower enthusiasts and bird watchers. During the fall, visitors can experience a 360-degree view of the changing leaves. Summers may be the busiest times of the year with tourists visiting the mountains.

Admission to Chimney Rock State Park
Admission to Chimney Rock State Park is $15 for adults, $7 for youth ages 5-15, and free for children, ages 4 and under. Discounts are available for groups of 20 or more paying guests and for senior citizens. Parking is included in admission price.

Wildlife at Chimney Rock State Park
Besides offering amazing mountain views, Chimney Rock State Park is a haven for a variety of birds living in or traveling through western North Carolina. The forest surrounding the rock attracts Scarlet Tanagers and various warblers as well as provide a home for the Peregrine Falcon. Guided bird walks are available in the spring through the fall months.

Insider tip for Chimney Rock State Park
Chimney Rock State Park has provided the location for several blockbuster movies. The Last of the Mohicans was filmed within the park, and Hickory Nut Waterfall was featured in the last 15 minutes of the film. The front gates of the park were filmed in Firestarter, and the nearby Lake Lure provided the scenic location for Dirty Dancing.
