Katherine Haymore started her career taking care of children in some very serious and urgent situations in the pediatric intensive care unit. She became a nurse practitioner because she wants to help guide patients and their families towards good health and lifestyle choices. Katherine is happy to have the time and ability to provide that guidance to children of all ages and watching them grow. She especially enjoys working with teenage female patients but is always available to help all her patients, regardless of age or ailment. Married to her high school sweetheart, Katherine has a son and a daughter. She enjoys the time she gets to spend with her family. They love to be outdoors together and spending time with their dog.

My love for science and my interest in helping people were the first things that led me to a career in medicine. Growing up in Chicago, I always had a desire to be a physician to help people live a healthier life. \n My approach to health and wellness begins with the patient sitting in front of me. The patient is the most crucial part of the healthcare team. He or she should be involved in developing a treatment plan or health regimen. And obviously, the plan is only as strong as the patient's commitment to it. I work in concert with patients to try to prevent diseases from emerging. If they do develop, then we work together to prevent them from progressing. \n As the physician liaison to Novant Health Office of Health Equity and Community Health, I connect our organization with our community in order to improve health equity and to reduce disparities. \n I'm active in organizations related to my work, including the American College of Physicians, the National Medical Association, the Novant Health Foundation Board (which I currently chair), the Community Care Center, the Sixth District of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Health and Wellness Initiatives (which I currently chair), Psi Phi Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. and the Twin City Medical Society. \n I am married with two adult children, both of whom work in the healthcare field. I enjoy martial arts and am a certified sixth degree Duan/Black Belt in Southern Shaolin Kung Fu and Emperor's Long Fist (advanced Tai chi). I enjoy movies, travel and spending time with family, friends and my fraternity.
