When I was a young child, my mother was diagnosed with cancer. Helping her through her journey with cancer is the reason I chose my career path. That experience led me to discover my passion for positively impacting others' lives through medicine. \n Then, the premature birth of my son inspired me to specialize in obstetrics and gynecology. So, I have a personal perspective that allows me to offer empathetic care to my obstetrics patients. \n I want to partner with my patients and empower them to participate actively in their healthcare decisions. Understanding that each patient is unique, I customize the care I provide. I strive to establish trusting, supportive relationships with my patients and deliver high-quality, compassionate and competent care. \n My husband and I met in college and married in 2016. We have a son and a dog, both of whom we adore. I enjoy traveling and spending time with family and friends.

As a small child, I wanted to be a doctor but didn't know what kind. I assumed I'd practice internal or family medicine. Ironically, when I started medical school, I said I would never be an ob-gyn. My mother laughed, and said, "Never say never." When I started my clinical rotations, I found this specialty to be the perfect fit. I found I missed it when I was doing other rotations. Of course, my mother enjoyed saying, "I knew it all along" when I called toward the end of my third year to tell her I'd decided to go into obstetrics and gynecology. I pride myself on delivering personalized care to each patient. My strongest attribute in my professional life (which also serves me well in my personal life) is that I'm a good listener. I've been told by several patients throughout the years that I'm the only doctor they feel has ever truly listened and was, therefore, able to fix or significantly improve whatever health issue they were having. While I was a resident, I served on the board of the Mississippi Medical Association for two years. Originally from Mississippi, I grew up in the Delta as the oldest of five children. I made my way to Asheville, North Carolina, for high school and went to the College of Charleston for undergrad before returning to Mississippi for my medical training. After completing training, I took a job in High Point, North Carolina, as an ob-gyn and worked there for three years before moving to Wilmington in 2019. I met my husband in the area - at Wrightsville Beach - when we were in high school, but we didn't start dating for another decade. Today, we have two young children and a third on the way. When I have free time, I enjoy spending it with my family, as well as hiking, fishing and baking. I'm active in our church and hope to one day - when life is a little slower - take up drawing again.
