Benjamin E. Kitchin, MSN, CNM

I knew from a young age that I wanted to help people. I have always had an interest in and a love for the sciences. Putting those two together, it just made sense to go in to medicine. I love obstetrics and gynecology because my days are never the same. As a mother, I have been through it all when it comes to pregnancy and delivery. I think that it has given me a unique perspective when caring for patients and helping them make decisions about their care. I like to make sure my patients are well-educated about their health and share in the decision making about their treatment plan. I enjoy practicing holistic care that stems from my roots as an osteopathic physician. When I am not at work, I enjoy spending time with my family. We love spending time outside and going to the beach.

My vision has always been to provide the highest standard of care in a space that encourages growth, creativity, and connection, and that aligns perfectly with UNC Health Wayne's commitment to prioritizing patients. I am passionate about empowering my patients, and with over two decades of experience, I am dedicated to providing the best possible care. My expertise covers the full scope of obstetric and gynecologic care. I'm so thrilled to be a part of the UNC Health Women's OBGYN Care team, and I can't wait to make a positive impact on the women in this community.

I became an advanced practice provider because I wanted to improve health equity and access to quality care for the women in my community. I have always had a passion for women’s health, but I want to be more than just a health care provider. I believe the need to feel cared for and heard by their provider are priority for most women. As a midwife, partnering with my patients to develop the plan of care and assisting them to make decisions regarding their overall health maintenance, pregnancy, and delivery experience are a top priority. When I am not at work, I enjoy reading and gardening and I love college football.
