The Avalon pier in Kill Devil Hills is very unique it has not only a family atmosphere but the locals are like a family as well. There are games for the kids and inexpensive food you can buy also...

Nothing special, very crowded with fisherman but cool spot for sunsets (and I guess fishing!) if you don't mind the crowdedness, this is a good spot for a walk or sitting on a bench if one is not...

This place is a must visit when you are coming down to the Outer Banks. In the off season fishing is free. They have a private lot. The pier sits right in the beach. Come at sunset on a good day...

Beware! $25 to park not $10! There's shade under the pier and the beach is really nice. $4 hot dog and chips special on Saturday.
