I'm a first-generation college graduate and the first physician in my family. I wanted to be an ob-gyn because the field allows me to take care of women throughout every stage of their lives. \n Obstetrics is special because pregnancy and childbirth are among the most memorable and special times in a woman's life. Being there for those times is a real privilege. And gynecology allows me to solve problems. Working in partnership with my patients, there's virtually no concern - be it bleeding, pain, fertility issues, contraception management or anything else - that we can't develop a treatment plan to address. \n I take time to listen to every patient's story. That helps me fully understand what's going on and what's most important to them. I like to review all the possible treatment options and allow patients to make an educated decision about what works best for them. \n My patients mean a lot to me, and I really like getting to know them as people - their interests, their concerns, their hobbies. \n Columbia, South Carolina, is where I grew up, but my family is originally from Cuba. I'm fluent in Spanish, which allows me to communicate readily with Spanish-speaking patients. \n I'm a proud member of, the national medical honor society, and an American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG) Alpha Omega Alpha diplomate. \n I met and married my husband in Charlotte. We have identical twin girls and a sweet, red-headed boy who keep us on the go. When I have free time, I enjoy reading, shopping and traveling.
