Established in 1958, Asheville Symphony performs and promotes symphonic music for the benefit, enjoyment and education of the people of western North Carolina. It has employed more than 80 orchestra members and organizes concerts that feature nationally renowned and local artists. It receives funds from a wide variety of sources, including the North Carolina Arts Council, individual contributions, advertising, fundraising projects, local government and ticket revenue. The Asheville Symphony presents seven full-orchestra concerts per year and each concert features a performance by a guest artist. Its concerts also feature the music of Beethoven, Bartok, Haydn and other renowned composers. Its various programs include concert lectures, music education in schools and offering scholarships to students. Its office is located in Asheville, N.C.
