Dr Cuellar grew up in San Antonio, Texas, and received his undergraduate degree from Brown University in liberal arts. He graduated from Southwestern Medical School in Dallas with an MD, and trained at the University of Texas St Joseph Hospital in Houston. Dr Cuellar is board-certified in Obstetrics & Gynecology, and maintains continuous certification from the American Board of Obstetrics & Gynecology. He has held several positions at Mission Hospital, including Chairman of the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology, and Chairman of the Perinatal Committee. He has also had an appointment as Clinical Assistant Professor in Obstetrics & Gynecology from the University of North Carolina. Dr Cuellar opened Asheville Obstetrics & Gynecology, PA, as a solo practice in 2004. He has special interests and training in minimally invasive surgery, including total laparoscopic hysterectomy, single-incision operative laparoscopy and other procedures, as well as menopausal medicine. Dr. Cuellar is married to Wendy Logan Cuellar, a school counselor in the North Buncombe School District, and has a ten year old step-daughter.
