The SDA is constantly in touch with the latest information that concerns you as a businessperson. The association helps you stay informed about workplace practices and learn how other businesses handle a variety of issues. When you have a specific need or question about fundamental workplace issues such as pay, policies, practices or business strategies, the SDA responds. The SDA provides educational services with an affordable cost structure. Course content is based on workplace experience rather than textbooks or theories. Classes are provided on a variety of topics and geared toward a wide range of educational backgrounds. In addition, the SDA can develop and present custom training classes to meet your needs. A company may access SDA educational services only by becoming a member. The SDA convenes task forces, committees and peer groups on shared interests as needed. Because sensitive issues are discussed, trust, mutual respect and confidentiality are keys to a successful relationship with fellow SDA members. Complex issues often require that businesses join hands and work as one with other organizations. As an SDA member, you give voice to the business viewpoint in approaching these complex issues. The SDA's staff and organizational resources may be employed to assess your particular situation and recommend appropriate responses. Many of these resources for answers and advice are included in the annual membership dues. Depending on the complexity and the requirements, a fee may be charged by the SDA for this service. Businesses find their optimum performance when experiences and expenses can be shared. By providing a center of coherence, the SDA allows employers as diverse as banks, healthcare and utility providers, manufacturers and professional firms to work together toward common goals. The SDA membership includes employers from throughout the Upstate region.
