The faith and values instilled in me from a young age have made me always look for ways to help others and improve their lives. When I started exploring careers, I thought about my desire to continue helping, as well as my fascination with disease processes, and knew medicine was a logical fit. The ongoing advances the medical field is making to help people live healthier lives are truly remarkable, and I am proud to help my patients benefit from them. \n With every patient I see, I strive to put their wishes at the center of their care. I want each patient to feel heard and be actively involved in making care decisions for themselves. I actively listen to the needs of each patient so I can provide each one with the education, information and comprehensive care they deserve. \n I lived in Alaska for several years and enjoyed the outdoor activities, beauty and wildlife. I worked for the tribal consortium and learned a lot about Alaska Native culture. It was a unique and rewarding experience.

Medicine was a natural fit for me, as I always excelled in and enjoyed my science courses. Family medicine suits me because I love interacting with patients of all ages and enjoy promoting preventive medicine. It's especially gratifying to treat more than one generation in a family. I strive to bridge the gaps that exist in healthcare that keep too many from getting the screenings they need. My patients appreciate how thorough and detail-oriented I am. They also appreciate my insistence on treating the whole patient. That means I'm not just looking at physical symptoms. Our overall health encompasses emotional and mental health, our social networks and more. I am married and have four children and two dogs. My hobbies include traveling, reading and exercising and most of all, spending time with my family.
