Amir H. Barzin, DO, MS

As a physician, I love the idea of being at the center of a patients wellness, helping them to establish a medical home and navigate their healthcare. I dont believe there is any greater honor than to partner with my patients and their families throughout their lives to understand their needs and values, support them in organizing and managing their care, and coordinate their care across the broader healthcare system. I value my patients backgrounds, experiences and knowledge of their own bodies, and strive to partner with them to tackle their health issues and make the best decisions for their healthcare. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my wife, our adopted dog Jackson and friends, hiking, running, traveling, and exploring the Triangle area. We love the southern food scene and outdoor recreation.

I consider medicine as a calling to serve and work with people from all backgrounds on their health journey. Each patient encounter provides an opportunity to form a partnership and make a difference, no matter how little. This is part of why I chose Family Medicine and love it. Part of what I do also involves research with a focus on chronic disease management, health disparities and examining ways to improve health outcomes. During my free time, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, exploring new places, reading, and learning something new.

Please note, I am currently accepting new patients for Sports Medicine only and am unable to see new Primary Care patients at this time. I chose to become a doctor so I could combine my love for science with my enjoyment of helping others. I try to approach every patient as a whole person and help them achieve lifelong health. My areas of interest include sports medicine, ultrasound-guided injections, regenerative medicine, custom orthotics, acute and overuse sports injuries, minor fracture care, non-operative management of osteoarthritis and chronic tendinopathy, plant-based nutrition, and urgent care. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my wife and dog going to the beach, hiking, exercising, and traveling. I also love watching all UNC sports!
