Aikido of Charlotte is the largest Aikido dojo in Charlotte, NC, offering daily Aikido classes, self-defense workshops, and defensive tactics training for law enforcement. Founded in 1989 by Dennis Main Sensei, a 6th Dan, Shihan with over 50 years of experience, the dojo is now led by Chief Instructor Jonathan Weiner Sensei, a 5th Dan, Shidoin. With a 72 tatami mat dojo and a friendly atmosphere, Aikido of Charlotte welcomes visitors and encourages fellow aikidoka from other dojos to come and train.
Aikido of Charlotte is part of the United States Aikido Federation (USAF), a not-for-profit organization that provides technical and administrative guidance to its members. The dojo follows the traditional teachings of Aikido as handed down from the Founder, Morihei Ueshiba O Sensei. With a focus on rigorous technical standards and promoting the practice of Aikido, Aikido of Charlotte offers a supportive community and a dedicated team of instructors, including Weiner Sensei, who holds the rank of Godan and is a Shidoin certified senior instructor appointed by the USAF and Aikikai World Headquarters.
