American Jewish World Service, also known as AJWS, is an international development organization that was founded in 1985. It promotes the values and responsibilities of global citizenship within the Jewish community. The organization works with women, youths, refugees, and religious and sexual minorities alleviate poverty and hunger. American Jewish World Service provides travel, work and learning opportunities for individuals and groups. The organization offers the World Partners Fellowship program, which includes educational seminars and skills building workshops for Jewish college graduates and professionals. It provides housing and a range of services to more than 250 residents throughout the Bronx and Harlem, N.Y. the organization offers career services in health care, social work, construction, culinary arts and maintenance. Jericho Project provides substance abuse counseling services, as well as a vocational and educational, family reunification and after-care program that supports graduates. It additionally offers computer training services. The organization administers the Family Reunification Program, which helps residents with stronger parenting skills and guides through child welfare system. Jericho Project is located in New York City.

Established in 1914, the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee, also known as JDC, is a social welfare organization that provides educational, medical and community support services for distressed Jewish individuals. It works in more than 70 countries in Africa, Asia, Europe and Latin America to rescue at-risk people and overcome the social challenges of vulnerable citizens. The committee provides nonsectarian emergency relief and long-term development assistance solutions. It serves as an overseas arm of the American Jewish community. The American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee responds to natural and manmade disasters, as well as sends food items, cloths and medicines to the devastated Jewish communities.
