Williamson-Pultneyville Historical
The Williamson-Pultneyville Historical Society (W-PHS) is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving and sharing the history of the town of Williamson, New York, with a particular focus on the unincorporated hamlet of Pultneyville. Established in 1964, W-PHS gathers and disseminates information about the area's rich historical heritage, offering exhibits and educational programs to the public. The society owns and manages three properties, including the Society house, Centennial Park, and Gates Hall, which is recognized as the oldest continuously active small community theater in the United States.
With a mission to promote awareness and appreciation of local history, W-PHS showcases various exhibits, including the current feature on Myron VanWinkle, a Civil War soldier from Williamson. Visitors are invited to explore the exhibits at the W-PHS House every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 1-4pm during the summer season, or by special appointment. Additionally, the society encourages visitors to view the Civil War Monument in Pultneyville's Lakeview Cemetery, honoring the service of 14 soldiers from the area. Membership and donations are welcomed to support the ongoing preservation efforts of W-PHS.
