West Thames Street Pedestrian Bridge

The Brooklyn Bridge opened in 1883 as the longest suspension bridge in the world at the time. It is a National Historic Landmark as well as a New York City Landmark.

The first suspension bridge built on deflection theory, the Manhattan Bridge opened to traffic in 1909. The American Society of Civil Engineers named the bridge a National Historic Civil Engineering Landmark. The bridge has been going under an extensive $834 million reconstruction since 1982.
