History
Situated on the idyllic Main Street in Cold Spring Harbor, Long Island, this quaint shop evokes the quintessential small-town vibe. The historic building has been home to various businesses, including the post office, the telegraph office, the library, a candy store, and for the greater part of the last century, as a Barber Shop. The shop's lineage began with Jack Sloter, the resident barber until his death in 1952. Sam Ryan took the helm thereafter and was later joined by Vinny Hayes. Hayes, the shop's namesake, purchased the business in the late 1960's, adding Barber to his responsibilities with the US Navy and the Huntington Blood Bank. In 1989, the shop's fourth - and current - barber joined the small shop. Jennifer Hayes joined her father as an apprentice and quickly became one of New York's first female barbers. Over 25 years later, Jennifer continues to keep the community well groomed by providing top-notch cuts in a uniquely charming environment.
