Urban League of Rochester, NY, founded in 1965, offers a range of welfare services. It has several divisions, including education and employment, youth services, developmental disabilities and business development. The agency s assistance program assists aspiring minority and women business owners, as well as other small businesspersons in the start-up, development and expansion of independent, self-owned microenterprise ventures. Its family consultant and parent aid program provides family counseling, crisis intervention, communication and parenting skill development services to families at risk of losing their children to foster care. The agency s youth counseling and mentoring program provides support and advocacy to students and students who are at risk of being suspended.
