Trinity Ame Church

History

In 1933, Rev. Kinlock, his wife and four to five other Christians founded Trinity A.M.E. Church. Trinity started off in a cold water flat on the lower West side in New York City, and by 1934 Trinity became a part of the African Methodist Episcopal Church and was named Trinity A.M.E. Church. In 1943, Rev. Julius Major was appointed as Trinity's pastor. Under Rev. Major's pastorate and along with Trinity's dedicated congregation, they purchased the current three story property located at 259 West 126th Street in Harlem, NY. Under the pastorate of Rev. Paul J. Morrison the cornerstone was laid, an organ and piano were purchased, and the mortgage was paid off. At last, a Church structure stood erect for Trinity's members to worship. The Church continues to grow in spirit and love, under the leadership of our current pastor, Rev. Miranda L. Harrison
