The Urban Outreach Center of New York City, founded in 1990 and transitioned to its current name in 2014, serves over 65,000 individuals annually, addressing food insecurity and social vulnerabilities across New York's diverse communities. With a mission to provide dignity and access to healthy food, the center fosters an environment where guests can make their own choices while receiving necessary support.
Recognizing that hunger affects many in various forms, the Urban Outreach Center is dedicated to creating just systems for all New Yorkers, offering numerous volunteer opportunities for individuals and groups to contribute to the fight against hunger. By building a community of compassion and service, they aim to close the hunger gap in East Harlem and the Upper East Side.
