New York, NY 10011

The Spur, located in New York, NY, is a unique public space that opened on June 5, 2019, at 30th St. & 10th Ave. Initially part of an advocacy campaign to preserve the last remaining section of the original rail structure, this protected area was reimagined over a decade to offer a space designed for public programming, art, restrooms, and more.

The design team behind The Spur, including James Corner Field Operations and Diller Scofidio + Renfro, crafted a space that fosters interactions among visitors and with the surroundings. The Coach Passage, with its towering ceilings and planted balconies, provides breathtaking views and serves as a transition point leading to the open piazza, offering panoramic views of 10th Avenue and 30th Street.

The Spur features the Plinth, dedicated to monumental art commissions, and lush gardens inspired by the High Line's original landscape. With its rich history dating back to the 1930s, The Spur stands as a testament to community efforts in preserving and repurposing urban spaces for public enjoyment and cultural enrichment.
