The Neighborhood Center

Located in Utica, N.Y., Neighborhood Center offers a foster grandparent program that is sponsored by the Mohawk Valley Community Action Agency, also known as MVCAA. It is a part of Senior Corps, a network of national service programs that provide older Americans the opportunity to work for local communities. Foster grandparents serve as mentors, tutors and caregivers for at-risk children and youth with special needs through a variety of community organizations, including schools and day care centers. Mohawk Valley Community Action Agency is a nationally recognized community action agency established under the Economic Opportunity Act to fight poverty at the local level. MVCAA is a member of the National Association of Community Action Agencies and the New York State Community Action Association.
