History

I started as a volunteer for Big Apple Greeters, taking visitors to New York on routes of my choice. Friends of mine whom I took out kept telling me how good I was at it and that I should go professional. As I was retiring around 2010 from being an arts promoter, I decided to take their advice, and acquired my guide's license; and I now do it as a retirement career.

Specialties

My private walking tours take individuals and groups through neighborhoods in Manhattan and Brooklyn -- also Greenwich Village and midtown Manhattan. My walks emphasize history, culture and the current scene. We travel simply, to and between areas, by subway and the East River Ferry, and I usually pick up customers staying in Manhattan or convenient Brooklyn hotels. The tours are generally 90 minutes to 2-1/2 hours, and are tailored to the customer. They are adult-oriented, and incorporate my 30+ years of working in the visual and performing arts in pr and marketing. Most of my clients are visitors to New York City, although I have also hosted New York natives who simply haven't travelled to certain areas. I don't do tours during January or February, but go out all other months of the year.
