He is a native of Monmouth County, New Jersey and spent most of his time growing up on or around the ice hockey rink. He attended Rutgers University, graduating summa cum laude, and then went on to earn his M.D. degree at Rutgers - Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, where he was inducted into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society. He then further pursued subspecialty training and completed a hand/upper extremity and microsurgery fellowship at the Philadelphia Hand to Shoulder Center and Thomas Jefferson University Hospitals. During fellowship, he concentrated on the treatment of patients with a wide variety of injuries and conditions affecting the hand, wrist and elbow; including complex fractures, amputations, ligament/tendon injuries, peripheral nerve trauma and compressive neuropathies, tendinitis and arthritis.
