Swim Strong Swim Programs

History

Swim Strong Foundation is a 501c3, largely volunteer based not for profit in NYC that saves and changes lives through water safety and swim skill education. We provide low to no cost water safety and swim instruction to beginner through competitive swimmers ages 3 through seniors. We offer adaptive programs for those afraid of the water as well as those with special needs. We have a focused outreach into poor and low-income communities; including those who would not generally have access to the water due to cultural and economic barriers. We have programs for military recruits and for Veterans. We educate our communities around water safety awareness with the goal of reducing drowning deaths and nonfatal, but life-altering injuries due to spinal chord and brain trauma.

Specialties

Swim Strong Foundation is a nonprofit organization that saves and changes lives through the great sport of swimming. Our volunteer coaches are experienced and self-driven to teach children, teens, and adults how to swim. We offer three levels of swim programs for beginner (Get Ready Get Wet), intermediate (Learn to Swim), and experienced (Competitive & Stroke Enhancement) swimmers from ages 3-years to adult. Swim Lessons/Programs for kids, teens, and adults run year-round at our four locations in Brooklyn, Far Rockaway, and Queens. Swim Strong offers programs at Variety Boys and Girls Club in the long island city, Medgar Evers in Brooklyn NY, Bushwick High School in Brooklyn NY, and Jamaica High School in Queens NY. Our mission is to provide skills for life and SAVE lives. We transform lives and we challenge swimmers to use competitive swimming to learn the life-affirming values of commitment, goal-setting, self-discipline, persistence, team-work, and resilience.
