Gynecologic oncology combines aspects of medicine that I love—the ability to get to know patients and keep up with them for a long time, while helping them to move past illness. The field gives me the chance to work closely with colleagues, role models and trainees, and the science and surgical aspects of gynecologic oncology are dynamic and elegant—advances are made daily. The field has changed immensely, even since I was in medical school, with women living longer and better than ever before.

I recently completed an NCI funded clinical trial investigating the effects of the COX2 inhibitor, Celebrex, on breast cancer tissue. I am a member of many professional organizations including the Society of Surgical Oncology, the American Society of Breast Diseases, the American Society of Breast Surgeons, and the American College of Surgeons Oncology Group.
