Incorporated in 1893, Steele Memorial Library houses a selection of magazines, newspapers, biographies and reference works. The library offers the Polish Arts Club Program. It maintains a chess club, as well as organizes computer classes. Steele Memorial Library is governed by the Chemung County Library District, which also operates Horseheads Free Library, Van Etten Library and West Elmira Library in New York.
