The New York State Liquor Authority issues licenses for alcohol beverages in accordance with the Alcoholic Beverage Control Law. The authority was created by the Chapter 478 of New York State Law, founded in 1934. It also regulates trade and credit practices related to the sale and distribution of alcoholic beverages. The New York State Liquor Authority works with local law enforcement agencies, and community groups, as well as government officials and local leaders to ensure public participation in the licensing and enforcement process. It issues approximately 125 types of licenses and permits. The authority monitors manufacturing, wholesale, retail, transportation, storage and several other facets of the alcoholic beverage industry. The New York State Liquor Authority maintains one of its office locations in Albany, N.Y.
