The Robert C Dempsey Agency began in the early 1970s by Bob Dempsey and his wife Margaret Jean. Bob gave himself to the small town of Groton by serving as town mayor, village trustee, president of the National Bank of Groton and sat on the Board of the fire department. His son, Chris Dempsey, worked for the agency and took ownership of the Robert C Dempsey Agency in 1990. Chris graduated from Groton Central School in 1979 and Houghton College in 1986 with a degree in Business Administration. He married his wife, Diane, in 1988. Chris served as the Groton Fire Chief from 2000-2001. He currently serves as the President of the StoneHedges golf course and the Cortland Bible Club camp board. Chris opened three more locations in Moravia (2008), Auburn (2011) and Weedsport (2011).
