Redeemer Lutheran Church and Nursery school is a congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America ( elca.org ) and is a member of the Metropolitan New York Synod ( mnys.org ). We are located in the eastern portion of the borough of Queens ( NYC ), midway between Hillside and Jamaica Aves at 92-10 217th Street. We are a diverse community of believers that strives to be a light to the world expressing the teaching and work of Jesus Christ. Some of us have been members here all our lives, others are first generation immigrants to this country. Individual family roots extend back to Northern Europe, Africa, and the West Indies ( including Guyana, Trinidad, Haiti ). Yet, as baptized children of God, we are brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus, who are called, enlightened and sanctified through the work of the Holy Spirit. We worship through the proclamation of God's word and the celebration of the sacraments. Eucharist is celebrated Sunday mornings at 10: 30 AM. Each week we strive to have one weekday contemporary Eucharist. ( check the calendar page to confirm ). For Advent ( the four weeks leading up to Christmas ) the weekday Eucharist will replace our Wednesday night Vespers ( an evening prayer service ) at 7: 00 PM.
