Springside Landscape Restoration
Located in Poughkeepsie, NY, Springside Landscape Restoration is a 20-acre historic site and designed landscape that was once the country estate of Matthew Vassar, the founder of Vassar College. As the only surviving landscape designed by Andrew Jackson Downing, one of the pioneers of landscape architecture in America, Springside is a National Historic Landmark and a serene oasis on the Hudson River Valley Greenway Trail.
Visitors can enjoy the beauty of Springside's carriage trails year-round, taking a self-guided walking tour using a brochure or their smartphone. With a rich history dating back to the 1800s, Springside is dedicated to restoring and preserving this unique treasure with the support of generous donors and volunteers.
