Sound View Houses

Grant Houses is named after Ulysses S. Grant (1822-1885), a Civil War Union army general who become the 18th U.S. President. He was head of the Union Army in 1864. Grant Houses consists of nine buildings, 13 & 21-stories tall with 1,940 apartments. Completed October 31, 1957, 15.05-acres.

Justice Sonia Sotomayor Houses is named after the U.S. Supreme Court's first Hispanic-American justice. Justice Sotomayor grew up in the former Bronxdale Houses from 1957-1969. Sotomayor Houses has 28, seven-story buildings with 1,497 apartments. Completed February 28, 1955, 30.77-acres.

Castle Hill Houses in the Bronx has fourteen buildings, 12 and 20-stories tall with 2,023 apartments. Completed December 15, 1960, the 40.35-acre development is bordered by Havemeyer, LaCombe and Cincinnatus Avenues.
