Simon K. Cheng M.D., Ph.D. is the Residency Program Director and Assistant Professor of Radiation Oncology at New York-Presbyterian/Columbia University Irving Medical Center. He is recognized nationally in thoracic oncology and brain tumors and his research group is dedicated to developing innovative strategies to make treatment more effective and improve patient care. Dr. Cheng’s clinical expertise in radiation therapy has been recognized by his peers, acknowledged as Super Doctors New York Rising Stars (2015-2017) and Castle Connolly New York Metro Area and Regional Top Doctor (2017-2019). He was inducted into the Academy of Clinical Excellence at the Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons in 2019. He is a national and international invited speaker on lung cancer and stereotactic radiation therapy, including the prestigious opening plenary lecture at the 2007 national American Society of Radiation Therapy (ASTRO) meeting. Dr. Cheng’s research endeavors focus on enhancing the effectiveness of radiation therapy and immunotherapy using innovative translational and big data platforms. He has been awarded the 2010 American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Cancer Foundation Young Investigator Award and the 2010 Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) Research Seed Grant. Dr. Cheng was a Louis V. Gerstner Jr., Scholar from 2012-2015. His research work in lung cancer been recognized with 2013 LUNGevity Foundation Targeted Therapeutics Award and the 2019 American Lung Association Lung Cancer Discovery Award, Dr. Cheng received his B.S. from Cornell University, Ithaca, NY and completed his M.D. and Ph.D. degrees from New York University in 2005. He then completed in 2010 his residency program from New York University, where he was the recipient of the Holman Research Pathway and Chief Resident. Dr. Cheng joined the faculty of Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians & Surgeons in 2010. As the Residency Program Director at New York-Presbyterian/Columbia University Medical Center, Dr. Cheng is dedicated to medical education and mentoring scientists, medical and nursing students, and residents. He was awarded ARRO Educator of the Year Award in 2016 and was inducted into the Apgar Academy of Medical Educators in 2016.

Dr. George A. (Jack) Cioffi is an internationally recognized glaucoma scientist and clinician and is the Edward S. Harkness Professor and Chair of the Department of Ophthalmology at Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons since 2012. He received his medical degree at the University of South Carolina, completed a residency in ophthalmology at the University of Maryland where he also served as Chief Resident, and a fellowship in Research & Clinical Glaucoma at Devers Eye Institute under Dr. E. Michael Van Buskirk. Subsequently, he completed the inaugural Harvard Business School program in Managing Healthcare Delivery. Dr. Cioffi is the Editor-in-Chief of Journal of Academic Ophthalmology, the official journal of the Association of University Professors of Ophthalmology (AUPO). As well, he is Editor Emeritus of the Journal of Glaucoma, after serving for 10 years as the Editor-in-Chief, and he is the past Chair of the Basic and Clinical Science Course for the American Academy of Ophthalmology. He is the Chair of the Scientific Advisory Committee for the Glaucoma Research Foundation in San Francisco. He is a past President of the Oregon Academy of Ophthalmology and has served as a member of the FDA Ophthalmology/Dermatology Advisory Committee for drug approval. He also served on the Board of Directors for the Foundation for Medical Excellence and was selected by the Governor John Kitzhaber to serve on the Oregon Health Policy Board’s Outcomes & Quality taskforce. Dr. Cioffi, a physician for more than 30 years, has published over 250 articles, has enjoyed support from the National Eye Institute of the National Institutes of Health for more than two decades. He has delivered numerous named lectures and has received the Honor Award, the Senior Honor Award and two Secretariat Awards from the AAO. He has mentored more than 50 clinical and post-doctoral fellows over his career. These clinicians and scientists are now at academic institutions and in practices around the U.S., Canada, Europe, Asia, and Australia.

David Adam Fedoronko, MD

Dr. Fedoronko is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Psychiatry in the Consultation-Liaison and Behavioral Medicine division. He received an undergraduate degree in chemistry from Wayne State University before studying medicine at the University of Michigan Medical School. He completed residency in psychiatry at New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center. He then came to Columbia to complete a fellowship in consultation-liaison psychiatry. He has remained on faculty since that time. He currently serves as liaison to the lung transplant, heart transplant, and heart failure programs at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital. He additionally serves as a consultant to the general hospital. His interests include the management of mood and anxiety disorders in patients with severe medical illness and the influence of personality style on coping mechanisms and medical outcomes. He is active in teaching as he directs the consultation-liaison component of the third year medical student clerkship in psychiatry. Dr. Fedoronko is also active in clinical supervising and lecturing to psychiatry residents and fellows. Past honors include the William Webb Fellowship from the Academy of Psychosomatic Medicine, the outstanding graduate in consultation-liaison psychiatry from NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center, the Raymond Waggoner Award from the University of Michigan Medical School, and election to Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society.
