Shelsky's Brooklyn Bagels opened in late 2017. Peter Shelsky and Lewis Spada, proprietors of Shelsky's of Brooklyn Appetizing and Delicatessen were having trouble finding the perfect bagel to accompany their wide range of smoked salmon, lox, schmears, and spreads. So, they set out to recreate the classic New York bagels of their youth. Shelsky's bagels are smaller (not small), with a dense, chewy crumb, and a profound crust. They are hand-rolled using a sourdough starter and slowly fermented for 3 days before being boiled and baked. Lot's of love and care goes into these old-school bagels. Shelsky's offers them individually or by the baker's dozen. We also offer a wide range of bagel flavors, cream cheese varieties, smoked fish, deli meats, traditional and non-traditional breakfast and lunch sandwich options, and pastries... Oh, yeah, and we make a fine cup of coffee made from locally-roasted, Rain Forest Alliance certified coffee.

My favorite bagels and worth a trip to Brooklyn! The pretzel bagel with butter is a treat, so original. If you like heat the peppercorn bagel is great for a sandwich.

The bagels are great, not dense, soft, fresh, but a bit bland. Interesting menu of different lox bagels, pastrami is outstanding. However, the lox sandwiches are the priciest in the neighborhood,...

The service is very friendly and the bagels are fine, but the flavored cream cheeses are the worst I've ever had from a legit bagel spot. My bodega's scallion cream cheese had more scallions in it...
