Schenectady Arc

The Alternative Living Group is a nonprofit, human service agency licensed by the state of New York to provide a wide range of residential, recreational and support services to individuals with mental disabilities and developmental disabilities. The agency operates more than 10 residences and over five after-school respite programs with an enrollment of nearly 50 students. It also operates a summer camp and coordinates the provision of services and crisis intervention for more than 200 individuals and their families. The agency provides a variety of residential opportunities and operates an educational advocacy program assisting persons who have been misdiagnosed. The Alternative Living Group is located in Schenectady, N.Y.

The Center for Disability Services, formerly known as The Center for the Disabled, has been serving individuals with disabilities and their families for more than 60 years. It offers a wide range of medical, behavioral and therapeutic services, including primary care, dental services, women's health care, neurology and other specialty health care, psychological services, and physical, occupational, speech and alternative therapies. The center also offers health care education programs and organizes conferences. Residential opportunities with the center include supervised living arrangements, supportive living settings and outreach home-based programs. Its hospice care programs include early intervention and preschool services, residential habilitation for adults and consumer-directed personal care. The Center for Disability Services is located in Scotia, N.Y.
